Class Options

Downriver Dance Academy understands the needs of our families and students during these challenging times.  We are offering several options that will incorporate the Governor's guidelines and social distancing protocol.  Our student's comfort and safety is our biggest concern.  The plans below options for classes based on the current executive orders and future transition plans.

Downriver Dance Academy will continue to monitor the COVID-19 developments, and will notify our families of any changes.

Plan 1

Unable to Meet Indoors

  • Meeting at Ms. Betsy's house and dancing in the front yard.

    • Portable bars and dance floors will be available.

  • Classes will continue through October, possibly November with weather permitting.

    • If weather is bad, live stream will take its place.

    • If the Governor's guidelines do not allow us to meet in person, indoors when weather gets worse, classes will meet virtually until we ar able to meet outdoors again.

    • All classes will go back to original time slots.

Plan 2

Virtual Group Class

  • If you want to continue dance education from the safety of your home, you can sign up for the virtual class academy.

    • Provides a live stream of the group weekly class which will allow you to follow along.

  • There is no guarantee of live feedback in this option.  The instructor may do check-ins with the online student during class, but one-on-one feedback os not guaranteed.

  • Portable dance floors may be available to rent (pending availability).

  • Same cost as in-person group class instruction.

Plan 3

Private Lesson

  • If you do not feel comfortable with your child meeting in a group but still want them to attend in person instruction, you may pay for a duet or solo private option for a specific style of dance.

    • This is different than a private for the recital, those will begin during the winter semester per usual.

  • This option is available in-person or virtually.

    • Whether in-person via yard or via studio will depend on the Governor's orders at the given time.

    • Virtual privates will receive direct instruction/feedback in real time.

  • Keep in mind, this is a premium cost option as it is a private lesson with the instructor.

Plan 4

In Studio Instruction

  • If we are able to return to the studio COVID-19 safety plans will be followed and strictly adhered to.

  • No parents will be allowed to observe in back/front spaces - student drop-off only.

  • Social distancing will be observed - class sizes will max out at 8 students.

  • Sanitation will take place after every "group change" of students.

  • More details will be posted when this option becomes available.
