Meet Our Instructors

Downriver Dance Academy is committed to providing quality dance instruction.  Our instructors bring years of experience in various styles to ensure a diverse and technically accurate dance education.  Please take a moment to meet our instructors and learn a little about their passoion for dance.

Spencer Genrich
Studio Director (She/They)

Spencer Graye has been dancing for over two decades in the Detroit area with training in 14+ different styles.  Their approach to teaching is heavily influenced by their day job as a relational therapist, where students can expect to use self-reflection, storytelling, and empowerment as part of the movement development. She has danced professionally in companies like Zookworks and D4G, and choreographed 40+ productions for local theater groups.  Her most recent work she’s been excited to share to the stage were both DAG productions SIX (director/choreographer) & American Idiot. Cordelia Krajewski
Instructor
(She/Her)

Cordelia Krajewski is a Wyandotte native who has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She recently graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor in Public Affairs. Cordelia has been with Downriver Dance Academy under the instruction of Spencer Genrich since 2020. Prior to her time at DDA, Krajewski danced for ten years at Trenton School of Dance. While there, she danced in the company for 4 years, competition team for 3 years, and completed 3 ballet exams through the Ceccetti Council of America. Beyond her childhood dance experience, Cordelia has taken several courses within the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State, expanding her dance experience into adulthood. Outside of dance, Cordelia is pursuing a career in public service. She believes dance is a beautiful art form that allows anyone to express their unique perception of how the world moves and changes all around us.

Kayla Cobetto

Kayla is from Woodhaven and grew up dancing at Linda’s School of Dance located in Trenton. In high school, she was the captain of Woodhaven’s Competitive Dance Team. Additionally, she began choreographing and teaching at Linda’s School of Dance from 2018-2023, until the owner retired. Aside from her love of dance, Kayla graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2022 with a degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration and a minor in Art History.

Auryonna Perry
Instructor
(She/Her)

Auryonna began dancing at the age of three at Janet’s School of Dance. She later continued her training at Dance Avenue, where she joined the competition team and competed for seven years until graduating high school. In addition to her dance background, Auryonna has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from EMU and currently works for Comerica Bank. She was thrilled to come back to dance this year and teach her soloists, reigniting the passion she’s always had for dance. She is so excited to continue creating, growing, and working alongside such amazing and talented students.
